Living with Jen is like a dream. The walls are colored cream, as is her dresser, her bedsheets, her blankets. The living room is a minimalist arrangement; a soft beige sofa facing a TV, a simple wooden dining set on the other side, the rest bare.


Last night we ate chicken and vegetables and brown rice and then went walking at Albany Middle School. The track isn’t lighted at all, so we walked in the dark, while two boys sprinted around us. After a while, we could see stars in the sky. It was strange to think of how big the universe was, and I contemplated loneliness.
